iOS Open Source : PhotoAppLink, Share Photo Data Across Apps

The idea of PhotoAppLink is quite clever, provide a framework that will allow multiple photo applications on an iOS device to exchange image data interactively. Picture this (ugh, bad pun), one application takes a photo and the image data is passed to another application, wherein the image can be cropped in unique ways. Once cropped, the data is passed to another application that offers additional unique photo editing effects…

The subtle benefit of this idea is that each application in the lifecycle does not need to save the current photo to the camera roll, from there the user exits the app and starts the next app, opening the image from the camera roll, etc.

By integrating PhotoAppLink into an application, image data can be exchanged with other compatible PhotoLinkApps using a custom “send to app” interface built into the library. The best way to get your hands around this is to see PhotoAppLink in action:

The PhotoAppLink site also mentions that you can earn revenue via Linkshare, here is text from the PhotoAppLink website: “…if a user buys a compatible app discovered through PhotoAppLink in your app then you will receive a commission for the sale.”
