Morning Radar: iPhone 5 craziness, PS3 legal alert, more on Windows 8

A few of the stories and headlines catching our attention this morning … 

Rumors about Apple’s upcoming iPhone 5 launch are spreading fast and furious after a case maker posted and then pulled apparent images of the device.

Bottom line, the next iPhone will be thin and tapered at the edges, with an 8 megapixel camera and a fast A5 dual-core processor. It’s expected out sometime in October … unless production problems delay the release. And yes, Sprint will have some type of iPhone, as well.

More details about Windows 8 are trickling out as Microsoft’s Build conference winds down in Anaheim. Among them: The built-in Windows Defender program will now include malware protection (a potential threat to third-party security software vendors), and the “Metro” version of Internet Explorer 10 will purposefully avoid support for plug-ins and Flash, although the alternative desktop version will still work with them.

Ballmer vs. Yang, Round 2? Business Insider reports that people inside Microsoft are talking about trying — again — to buy Yahoo.

Heads-up: If you install the latest mandatory PlayStation 3 update, you’re apparently giving up your right to participate in future class-action suits against Sony over the machine.
